Delhi University has announced schedule for the allocation and admission process for undergraduate programmes across its various colleges for the academic year 2024-25 under Spot Round-I. According to the schedule notified on Sunday, the application process for spot admissions will commence on September 18 at 10 am and will remain open until 11.59 pm on September 19. The declaration of seat allocation will be made on September 21 at 3 pm, it said. Candidates who applied for the Common Seat Allotment System (CSAS-UG)-2024 but are not admitted to any college as of 5 pm on September 17 are eligible to participate in the Spot Round-I admission process. The Delhi University has released the first allocation list for the undergraduate admissions 2024-25, with 97,387 candidates offered programmes and college combinations in the 'round one' of Common Seat Allotment System (CSAS). For admissions to 71,600 sanctioned seats, the university considered 5,68,20,017 unique cutoffs and ranks for the allocations in this round, according to an official statement. The National Testing Agency (NTA), the body that conducts the entrance exam, announced on Sunday a re-test for over 1,000 CUET UG candidates on July 19, following complaints from candidates, including issues of time loss due to the distribution of the wrong question paper. The Delhi University will provide single girl child quota across its programmes from the academic session 2024-2025, varsity officials announced on Tuesday as it began the admission process for the undergraduate courses. At a press conference here, DU officials launched the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) for UG admissions into 69 colleges and departments with 71,000 seats on offer. While there are no major changes in the admission policy this year, the varsity, in a first, has introduced reservation for single girl child in all programmes as part of the supernumerary seats, DU registrar Vikas Gupta said. Asked about the procedure to identify the single girl child, Gupta told PTI, "We are working on modalities to identify the single girl child claimants." Delhi University (DU) on Friday advised candidates to go through the syllabi of all programmes before choosing their preferences for admission through CUET UG 2023, after several existing varsity students admitted they did not know the language they opted for. In an advisory to candidates seeking admission in DU colleges, the varsity said that the last academic session, candidates opted for programmes with the sole purpose of taking admission to a certain college despite having no prior knowledge or proficiency required for pursuing the programme and area of study. The Delhi University will hold postgraduate admissions through the Common University Entrance Test from the next academic cycle. A resolution for this was passed by its Executive Council on Thursday. Last month, the Academic Council of the university passed a proposal to change the admission pattern for postgraduate programmes. Under the existing system, 50 per cent of admissions are done directly from students who did their bachelor's degrees from the university based on merit in their qualifying examinations. The change in the admission pattern of postgraduate programmes was proposed by a 10-member committee formed to suggest a strategy for PG admissions from 2023-2024. The remaining 50 per cent of seats are currently filled based on candidates' ranks in the DU postgraduate entrance test. "The Executive Council has approved to recommend PG admissions through CUET with half of the seats remaining under merit-based admission for students of DU," council member Seema Das told PTI.

Delhi University has decided to increase the number of students in a lecture by around 50 per cent to 60 per batch, a move that has been opposed by teachers. The Delhi University has started a scheme of fee waiver for students from an economically weak background to provide the benefits of equity, access and quality with excellence to everyone, an official said on Wednesday. The waiver includes all components of the fees paid by the students except the examination fee and the hostel fee. Students from an economically weak background can get up to 100 per cent fee waiver, depending on their family income. A full-time bona fide student studying in the university is eligible to apply for it. December 12 is the last date for applying. Over 11,600 candidates allotted seats in the Delhi University's first round of admission have been upgraded to college and course of their preference in the second merit list, a senior varsity official said on Monday. As many as 8,133 new aspirants have also been allotted seats in Delhi University colleges, DU Registrar Vikas Gupta said. A total of 33,739 aspirants had applied for the upgradation of their seats, of which more than 34 per cent have been given college and course of their preference, he said.
