SoftBank-backed e-commerce firm Meesho on Monday said that it has recorded a 40 per cent growth year-on-year in total orders during the latest annual festival sales. The e-commerce firm claims to have recorded 145 crore customer visits during the 10 days long 'Meesho Mega Blockbuster Sale 2024'. "During our Mega Blockbuster Sale this year, we achieved over 40 per cent growth in orders, surpassing industry expectations. With around 3 crore app downloads and a 45 per cent increase in new-to-e-commerce users, we are reinforcing our commitment to making e-commerce accessible and affordable for millions across the country," Milan Partani, General Manager, User Growth at Meesho said. Meesho's flagship sale held from September 27 to October 6, 2024. State-owned Central Bank of India has extended its festival offer for three months till March 31 with a view to increasing its retail asset book. Earlier, the offer was till December 31, 2023. The bank is offering low interest rate, waiver in processing fee and other facilities for customers during this period, Central Bank of India general manager (retail assets) Vivek Kumar said. Cent Grih Laxmi Scheme and Cent Business Scheme are offering the lowest rate of interest across the industry starting from 8.35 per cent. Last week, the bank also held meeting with major real estate developers across Delhi-NCR. About 150 Direct Sales Agents (DSAs) and 50 renowned builders across the region joined the event. A significant percentage of consumers have expressed an intent to shop online during the upcoming festive season and are also willing to increase their spending this year, says a survey. According to the Amazon India commissioned survey by Nielsen Media, based on a sample size of 8,159 consumers across metro and smaller cities, found that 87 per cent of consumers in metros and 86 per cent across tier-2 cities (population 10-40 Lakh) prefer to shop online this festive period. As per the survey, "81 per cent of consumers intend to shop online during this festive season. 1 in 2 consumers are willing to increase their spending this festive period compared to last year." According to a Redseer Consulting report, consumer spending in festive sales of 2022, had increased marginally by 3 per cent on a year-on-year basis.
