Veteran filmmaker Shekhar Kapur says he is trying to rediscover the creative naivety that shaped "Masoom" as he prepares for its much-awaited sequel. Veteran stars Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah, who played lead roles in the 1983 film, are set to return for the sequel which will start shooting this year. Speaking at the red carpet of the inaugural Indian Film Festival Germany, where "Masoom" will be screened, the veteran director said the movie was born out of his complete inexperience and that gave it a unique quality. Top Telugu actor Allu Arjun on Tuesday visited the boy, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital here after suffering serious injury in a stampede at the premiere of his latest film Pushpa 2. Earlier, Arjun scheduled to visit the hospital on January 5 but the plan was cancelled. The actor is added as accused No 11 in the case filed after a woman died and her eight-year-old son sustained serious injuries in the stampede on December 4. During Allu Arjun's visit to the hospital on Tuesday, Telangana State Film Development Corporation (FDC) Chairman Dil Raju was also present. Security was enhanced at the hospital in view of the actor's visit. The SHO of Ramgopalpet Police Station had issued a notice to Allu Arjun regarding his proposed visit to the hospital and advised him to keep it confidential so that public order could be maintained in and around the hospital. Film and television producer-director Vipul Shah-backed Sunshine Pictures Ltd has filed draft papers with the market regulator Sebi to raise funds through an initial public offering (IPO). The IPO comprises a total offer size of 83.75 lakh equity shares including a fresh issue of 50 lakh shares and an Offer-for-Sale (OFS) of 33.75 lakh shares by promoters, according to the draft red herring prospectus (DRHP). Promoter Vipul Amrutlal Shah is proposing to sell 23.69 lakh shares, while Shefali Vipul Shah plans to offload 10.05 lakh shares. The company plans to utilize the proceeds from the fresh issue to meet its long-term working capital requirements, allocating up to Rs 94 crore to support future growth and operations, along with other general corporate purposes. Additionally, the listing of its equity shares on the stock exchanges is expected to enhance the company's visibility, strengthen its brand image, and create a public market for its shares in India. Allu Arjun's "Pushpa 2: The Rule" continues to spread like wildfire at the global box office, earning Rs 449 crore gross in just two days. The second part of the "Pushpa" franchise, which released across the globe on Friday with dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, and Malayalam, debuted with a historic box office score of Rs 294 crore gross on day one. Production banner Mythri Movie Makers, which has bankrolled "Pushpa 2", shared the movie's latest box office figures on social media. Director Payal Kapadia's "All We Imagine As Light" has been selected as the best film of the year by prestigious Sight and Sound magazine that also voted "Anora", "La chimera", "Dahomey" and "Hard Truths" amongst its top five. Kapadia's Cannes Grand Prix winner, voted by the magazine's contributors, is "about love, but one that takes a clear stance against Islamophobia and other religious, caste and class prejudices that constrict real people's lives". The magazine said there are more female than male directors in the top ten, a feat that has only happened once before, in the pandemic year of 2020, when there were seven women listed. "Odh", a short film about the receding beachlines of Goa, has bagged the best film award in the third edition of the '75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow' (CMOT) initiative, held at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) here. The '75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow', which was started by the IFFI in 2021 to mark the 75 years of India's Independence, aims to encourage and nurture young creative talents from various trades of filmmaking. The segment was powered by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) in collaboration with ShortsTV. During the 53-hour Challenge, 75 contestants were divided into five teams to produce short films.
