The Telangana Government has released an assessment report on the damages caused by heavy rains and floods in the state recently.Based on initial estimates, the total loss is Rs 5438 crore, as per the report released by the Telangana CMO on Monday.The losses have been estimated as -- Roads and Building Department -Rs 2,362 crore. The Andhra Pradesh government on Monday received power boats which it asked from the Centre to carry out flood relief operations in Vijayawada, especially at a time when it was running short of them. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to dispatch power boats and additional NDRF teams to cope with the demanding flood emergency. The Union Home Ministry assured Naidu that 40 power boats and six helicopters would be sent to the southern state. "Power boats reached Vijayawada. Following discussions with the Centre on Sunday, a large number of boats were dispatched from other states. Food is being distributed in Ajit Singh Nagar using the boats," said an official statement on Monday. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday said the Centre will send a team to the state to assess the damage caused by the floods. At least 26 people died as the floods devastated the state. A total of 17 lakh people were estimated to have been affected, and of them, 1.37 lakh were rendered homeless, officials said. "Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured me that he will be sending a central team shortly to assess the damage caused by the floods. The flood situation in Assam continued to improve on Sunday as water level is receding fast across the state, officials said. The India Meteorological Department's Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Guwahati has also not issued any warning except predicting some rains in Barak valley and a few districts of central Assam. The flood situation in Assam has shown no signs of improvement, with nearly 14 lakh people across 26 districts continuing to grapple with the deluge as of Friday, according to an official report. A number of major rivers, including the Brahmaputra, were flowing over the danger level in different parts of the state, it added. The toll in this year's floods, storms and lightings has reached 99. The report said 13,99,948 people remained affected in 83 revenue circles and 2,545 villages spread across 26 districts. An inter-ministerial central team is likely to visit Tamil Nadu on Wednesday to assess the damage caused by unprecedented flooding and rainfall in four southern districts over the last two days.
