Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways on Saturday inaugurated a multi-level flyover built at Chandni Chowk in Maharashtra's Pune and said it will address traffic congestion in the city. The full reopening of the Chirag Delhi flyover from Wednesday following maintenance work will benefit lakhs of commuters travelling between Nehru Place and the Indian Institute of Technology every day, PWD Minister Atishi said. The Public Works department (PWD) completed the maintenance work ahead of schedule. Now that the work on both the carriageways has been completed, the flyover will be open for traffic from Wednesday, she said. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal kept a watch on the maintenance work and monitored the progress regularly, Atishi said. "The maintenance work had to be halted several times due to frequent rain in the past month, causing delays in the timeline. However, the PWD showed its commitment by working round the clock and completing the work ahead of schedule. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday inaugurated the Ashram flyover extension that would bring a huge relief for people commuting between Delhi and Noida. PWD engineer-in-chief Anant Kumar said that for now, light vehicles will be allowed on the extended flyover. Vehicular movement will be affected on the Ring Road between Rajouri Garden and Punjabi Bagh in Delhi for around 11 months due to construction of an elevated road, police said on Thursday. The Delhi Police issued the traffic advisory, asking people to avoid these stretches. "Traffic will remain affected on Ring Road in both the carriageways from Rajouri Garden towards Punjabi Bagh & vice-versa for approx. 11 months," it tweeted. It is due to construction of an elevated road from New Moti Nagar flyover to the ESI Hospital, it added.
The Ashram flyover extension work will be completed by November, providing relief to lakhs of people commuting between Noida and Delhi, according to an official statement.
