Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with young innovators at the grand finale of Smart India Hackathon - 2024 via videoconferencing on Wednesday, his office said. The seventh Smart India Hackathon will run concurrently at 51 centres nationwide, a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office said. Modi will interact with the young innovators at the grand finale via videoconferencing around 4:30 pm on Wednesday. More than 1,300 student teams will participate in the grand finale and the prime minister will also address the gathering. The Software Edition will run nonstop for 36 hours while the Hardware Edition will run from Wednesday to Sunday. Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud on Friday announced the second hackathon of the Supreme Court, which will focus on use of artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline the functioning of the top court. At the outset of the day's proceedings, the CJI said AI will be used to streamline the functioning of the apex court's Registry to deal with issues like removal of defects (in petitions) and formatting and sorting of the judicial records". The Reserve Bank on India on Friday hiked the threshold for bulk fixed deposits to Rs 3 crore from existing Rs 2 crore. Bulk fixed deposits earn slightly higher interest rate than retail term deposits as banks offer different rates as part of their liquidity management exercise. Now single rupee term deposits of up to Rs 2 crore with Scheduled Commercial Banks (excluding Regional Rural Banks) and Small Finance Banks will be part of retail fixed deposits. On a review of the bulk deposit limit, it is proposed to revise the definition of bulk deposits as 'Single Rupee term deposit of Rs 3 crore and above' for SCBs (excluding RRBs) and SFBs, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said while announcing the bi-monthly policy on Friday. Further, it is also proposed to define the bulk deposit limit for Local Area Banks as Single Rupee term deposits of Rs 1 crore and above', as applicable in case of RRBs. The Reserve Bank on Tuesday announced its second global hackathon -- 'HARBINGER 2023 - Innovation for Transformation' with the theme 'Inclusive Digital Services'. Fintechs have been invited to develop solutions that have the potential to make digital financial services accessible to the differently-abled, facilitate efficient compliance, extend the reach of Central Bank Digital Currencies and enhance the scalability of blockchains.
