IRB Infrastructure has posted a 21 per cent rise in its toll revenue to Rs 539.6 crore in October. Revenues from the toll collection business stood at Rs 447.8 crore a year ago, IRB said in an exchange filing on Thursday. Of its 17 tolls, IRB MP Expressway in Maharashtra contributed the major share of Rs 142.6 crore to the total revenue collection, followed by IRB Ahmedabad Vadodara Super Express Tollway, which contributed Rs 66.2 crore, it said. The company collected Rs 32.7 crore in toll revenue from CG Tollway (Chittorgarh to Gulabpura NH 79). IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd (IRB) on Wednesday said its revenue from toll collection grew 30 per cent to Rs 447.7 crore in October 2023. Toll collection stood at Rs 345.1 crore in the same month last year, IRB said in a statement. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Monday said it has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to safeguard commuters and toll operators, reduce incidents of altercations and strengthen security at toll plazas. According to an official statement, the detailed SOPs include guidelines for NHAI field offices to ensure strict implementation and adherence by toll-collecting agencies to manage staff and road users. Commuters may no longer need to wait for even half a minute at toll booths with the government planning to roll out a barrier-less tolling system soon. Trials are on for a barrier-less tolling system and "as soon as our trials succeed, we will roll it out," Minister of State (MoS) for Road Transport and Highways V K Singh said on Wednesday. The country will also move to a system of payment on the basis of kilometres travelled, the minister said at a press conference here. He said the new system of tolling will improve efficiency and reduce travel time.
