Sanju Samson's well-crafted fifty and Mukesh Kumar's disciplined spell helped India wind up their Zimbabwe tour with a comprehensive 42-run victory in the fifth and final T20I here on Sunday. With this win, India clinched the series 4-1. Samson's (58, 45b) was central to India's healthy 167 for six along with Shivam Dube's flashy 26 (12b). Then the India bowlers led by Mukesh (4/22), Shivam Dube (2/25) and Washington Sundar (1/7) did their job, bundling out Zimbabwe for 125 in 18.3 overs. India and Zimbabwe have agreed to explore an opportunity to ink a pact for regulatory cooperation in tele-medicines, rough diamonds, and fast payments system, an official statement said on Wednesday. It was agreed during the third session of India-Zimbabwe Joint Trade Committee (JTC), which was held here on May 13 and 14. They also agreed to make concerted efforts towards enhancing bilateral trade. "Both sides agreed to explore signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) for regulatory cooperation in digital transformation solutions, tele-medicines, rough diamonds, fast payments system and traditional medicine among others," the commerce ministry said. They also identified several areas of focus for enhancing bilateral cooperation in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, machinery, vehicles, electrical machinery, mineral fuels, iron and steel, agriculture and food processing, and renewable energy, it added. Zimbabwe's main opposition leader said on Thursday he has quit his party, accusing the country's ruling party of hijacking the organisation and causing the removal of dozens of his members of parliament and councilors. Nelson Chamisa, 45, was President Emmerson Mnangagwa's main rival in the 2018 and 2023 disputed elections. On Thursday, he accused Mnangagwa of decimating the opposition by authoritarian means. In a 13-page statement on his social media platforms and on the party's page on X, formerly Twitter, Chamisa criticised the economically and politically troubled southern African country's record of authoritarianism. With immediate effect, I no longer have anything to do with CCC (Citizens Coalition for Change), he said. Chamisa said he would remain active in public service and told supporters there are fresh things we need to do, urging them to rally behind fresh politics as he prepares to announce his next step.
