The Kuttanad seat in Alappuzha fell vacant following the death of Nationalist Congress Party MLA Thomas Chandy on December 20 last year

The UDF candidate T J Vinod won the Ernakulam seat by a margin of 3,750 votes defeating Manu Roy (LDF-IND).

The Konni Assembly seat is also witnessing an intense fight between Congress candidate P Mohanraj and CPI-M candidate KU Jenish. Mohanraj is leading by 540 votes.
