Pakistan's Parliament in its joint sitting on Wednesday enacted a law to give Indian death-row prisoner Kulbhushan Jadhav the right to file a review appeal against his conviction by a military court. Jadhav, a 51-year-old retired Indian Navy officer, was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of espionage and terrorism in April 2017. India approached the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Pakistan for denial of consular access to Jadhav and challenging the death sentence. After hearing both sides, the Hague-based ICJ issued a verdict in July, 2019, asking Pakistan to give India consular access to Jadhav and also ensure review of his conviction. A top court in Pakistan allowed India more time to appoint a lawyer to represent death-row prisoner Kulbhushan Jadhav in the court to hear a review of his conviction and sentencing by a military court
He also said that there will be a lot of repercussions if Pakistan will not act according to the verdict of the International Court of Justice
Pakistan rejected India's demand that an Indian lawyer or a Queen's counsel should be appointed for death-row prisoner Kulbhushan Jadhav to ensure a free and fair trial in this country

The Islamabad High Court has asked the federal government of Imran Khan to give another offer and opportunity to India in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case
"We reserve our position in the matter which includes the right to avail of further remedies," Srivastava added
However, the main parties, including the government of India, have not been consulted ahead of the filing of the application by the Ministry of Law and Justice under a federal ordinance
The Indian government said the second access was "neither meaningful nor credible," and Jadhav appeared visibly under stress
