This comes after Stalin rejected his allegations that he had a meeting with Gautam Adani
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin did not meet industrialist Gautam Adani nor was any contract signed with the Adani group, state Electricity Minister V Senthil Balaji stated on Friday and warned of legal action against those spreading rumours in this regard. The DMK regime did not enter into any contract and there was only a case pertaining to the purchase of power at 7.01 per unit pending in the supreme court, he said, referring to the 2015 agreement entered upon during the AIADMK rule for a 25-year period to buy power from the company's 648 MW solar plant in Ramanathapuram district. "It is only understandable that the half-baked politicians try to portray the AIADMK government's power purchase decision as the DMK government's power purchase decision, as if they are ignorant of the supreme court case. They lack the courage to criticise the Adani company or the AIADMK," Balaji said in a statement. "No agreement was signed with the Adani group during the DMK regime and the chief

Expressing its concern over the appointment of DMK leader V Senthil Balaji, as a minister in the Tamil Nadu government days after he was granted bail in the money laundering case related to the cash-for-job scam, the Supreme Court on Monday agreed to examine a plea raising apprehensions on independence of witnesses in the case. A bench of Justices Abhay S Oka and Augustine George Masih, however, refused to interfere with the September 26 order of the apex court granting bail to Balaji on a plea filed by one of the complainants seeking its cancellation. "We granted you bail and days after you go and become minister. Anybody will be bound to be under the impression that now with your position as a senior cabinet minister, witnesses will be under pressure. What is this going on?" the bench asked senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Balaji. The bench, however, said it would not recall the September 26 order as the law laid down by the apex court was benefitting several other ...

Staunchly opposing the Centre's award of tungsten mining rights in Madurai district, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Friday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to cancel it and asserted that the state government will not allow mining there considering aspects such as a bio-diversity heritage site and people's opposition. A notified bio-diversity heritage site falls under one of the areas proposed for mining, and commercial mining in densely populated villages will definitely affect the people, who fear that their livelihood may be lost forever and hence, the state would never allow mining there, Stalin said, writing to Modi. Against the backdrop of protests by the people against proposed mining, Stalin pointed to the 'grim situation in Madurai district due to the Union government's award of tungsten mining rights,' and requested the immediate intervention of PM Modi to cancel it. The state had already raised its concerns on such auctioning of mining rights of critical and ...

Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi should free himself from divisive forces and discharge duties as per Constitutional norms, if he intends to continue as governor, Chief Minister M K Stalin said, and asked him to desist from converting Raj Bhavan into a political party office to depict Dravidian race in poor light. Amidst the heightened war of words between the governor and chief minister over the omission of a line from the state anthem during its rendition at the governor's event on Friday, Stalin sought to know why Ravi did not immediately condemn when a line from the Tamil anthem was missed right in front of him. "You say you can sing Tamil Thai Valthu with complete devotion, but why did you not immediately condemn when the singers missed a line pertaining to Dravida?" the chief minister asked Ravi. DMK President and Chief Minister M K Stalin on Thursday dubbed the Centre's simultaneous elections proposal impractical, unfeasible, and a 'diversionary' tactic, which the BJP-led regime would never be able to implement. In a post on X, Stalin said: "#OneNationOneElection is an impractical proposition that ignores the complexities of India's diverse electoral system and undermines federalism. It is logistically unfeasible, given the vast differences in election cycles, regional issues, and governance priorities. It will require an unrealistic alignment of all terms of office, disrupting the natural course of governance. This entire proposal is simply a move to satisfy the BJP's ego, but they will never be able to implement it. India's democracy cannot be bent to suit the greed of one party. Union government should address pressing issues like unemployment, price rise and equitable distribution of resources to States instead of wasting energy on these diversionary tactics.
