Mohan Bhagwat

A day after RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat expressed concern over declining population growth, BJP leaders welcomed his remarks while the opposition asked where will additional resources come from in case of an increase. Food prices are high and the government has "failed" to create employment opportunities for people, they said. Speaking at an event in Nagpur on Sunday, Bhagwat highlighted the vital role of families and warned that according to population science, if a society's total fertility rate dips below 2.1, it could face extinction. "So when we say 2.1, this means it should be more, at least three. The (population) science says so," the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief said and described the declining population growth as a "serious concern". Asked about Bhagwat's remarks, BJP leader Manoj Tiwari said they are in national interest. "The RSS is a patriotic organisation. If Mohan Bhagwat ji has said something, then it would certainly be in the national interest. So it shoul

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge accused the top BJP leadership on Sunday of trying to divide the society by holding surveys at every mosque in the country and said by doing so, the saffron party is disregarding the advice of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat. Addressing a big rally organised by a federation of Dalits, minorities, tribals and OBCs at the Ramlila Maidan here, Kharge accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of not letting people remain united or safe by allowing such surveys. He also asked whether Bharatiya Janata Paryty (BJP) leaders will demolish structures, such as the Red fort, Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar or Char Minar, which were constructed by Muslims. Kharge's remarks came in the wake of violence in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal, where a survey is being conducted at a mosque to ascertain whether a temple existed there years ago. The Congress president also gave a call to Dalits, minorities and Other Backward Classes (OBC) to remain united as only the

We all feel the shadow of a third world war emerging, with discussions on whether it might begin in Ukraine or Gaza, Bhagwat said while delivering a lecture organised in the memory of Sangh woman leader of Madhya Pradesh's Mahakoshal area late Dr Urmila Jamdar. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday said that due to the principles laid down by our ancestors, India helps even those countries that once waged a war against it. The Congress slammed the RSS after Mohan Bhagwat's annual Vijayadashami address on Saturday, alleging that the organisation wants to make the country uniform and asserting that it will not succeed in its plan. Addressing the Vijayadashami rally of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Nagpur, Bhagwat criticised "cultural Marxists and woke people", accusing them of undermining education and culture, promoting conflict and disrupting social cohesion. He said India has become stronger and more respected in the world with enhanced credibility in the last few years but sinister conspiracies are testing the country's resolve. Asked about Bhagwat's address, the Congress's media and publicity department head, Pawan Khera, said the RSS chief seems very confused and wondered whether he is in favour of diversity or opposed to it. In a post on X, Modi shared the link of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat's annual Vijayadashami address made earlier in the day, calling it a must-listen. The RSS, which was formed in 1925, is considered the ideological mentor of the BJP, and its volunteers have played a key role in its organisational growth over the decades. RSS functionaries invariably occupy the position of general secretary (organisation) in the BJP's national and state units, ensuring that the party organisation work

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking the RSS if it agreed with the BJP's politics of using central agencies to break up parties and topple opposition governments, and inducting "corrupt" leaders into its fold. In his first 'Janta ki Adalat' public meeting at Jantar Mantar following his resignation as Delhi chief minister, Kejriwal asked five questions to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, including if the BJP's rule on age of retirement also applied to Modi as it did for LK Advani. He questioned Bhagwat if he agreed with the BJP's politics of calling politicians "corrupt" and then inducting them into its fold. Kejriwal, in another question, asked Bhagwat how he felt when BJP chief JP Nadda said his party did not need the RSS, which is the saffron party's ideological mentor. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said being Hindu means to be generous and show goodwill to everyone, regardless of their religious beliefs, caste or dietary practices. In a release in Hindi, he said the Hindu society is the karta-dharta of the country. If something goes wrong in this nation, then it affects the Hindu society because it is the karta-dharta of the nation but if anything good happens in the country, it adds to the glory of Hindus, he said. Bhagwat explained that what is commonly referred to as the Hindu religion is, in essence, a universal human religion. "It embodies a global ethos focused on the well-being of everyone. To be Hindu means to be the most generous person in the world, one who embraces all, shows goodwill towards all, and descends from noble ancestors," he said. "Such a person does not use education to sow discord but to share wisdom, does not use wealth for indulgence but for charity and employs power to protect the vulnerable, Bhagwat said. Anyone

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Monday said some elements who don't want India to grow are creating hindrance in the path of its development, but there was no need to be scared as a similar situation prevailed during the times of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, but it was tackled using the power of "dharma" or religion and righteousness. Speaking at the release of a book titled 'Tanjavarche Marathe', written by author Dr Milind Paradkar, he noted dharma does not mean just puja (rituals), but it is a broader concept that encompasses truth, compassion, 'tapascharya' (dedication). He maintained the word 'Hindu" is an adjective that personifies acceptance of diversities and emphasised India came into existence for a purpose and to push the idea of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" (The world is one family). Bhagwat pointed out that in the past "external" invasions of India were largely visible so people were alert, but now they are manifesting in different forms. "When Tata

He was speaking after hoisting the national flag at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Mahal area here on the occasion of Independence Day. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday claimed that after 1857, the British systematically made efforts to diminish the faith that countrymen had in their traditions and ancestors. Bhagwat said there is blind faith but faith is never blind. He said some practices and customs that have been followed are beliefs. Some could be wrong and need to be changed. The British systematically made efforts to eliminate faith from our minds after 1857 (when the British Crown formally started ruling India)... The faith which we had in our traditions and ancestors," the RSS chief added. Bhagwat was speaking at the launch of a book by author G B Deglurkar. He said India has idol worship which goes beyond the shape and connects with the formless. It is not possible for everyone to access the formless, so one has to go step by step. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday asserted that people should work relentlessly for the welfare of mankind, since there is no end to the pursuit of development and human ambition. In the course of self-development, a man may want to become 'superman', then 'Devta' and 'Bhagwan' and aspire for 'vishwaroop', but nobody is certain what lies ahead, Bhagwat said. Addressing a village-level workers meeting, organised by a non-profit organisation Vikas Bharti here, he also said that some people, despite being human, lacked human qualities and they should inculcate it first. "After achieving human qualities, man aspires to become superman with supernatural powers and then attain the status of 'Devta' and 'Bhagwan'. He then aspires for vishwaroop (the supreme power's all-pervading form). What is beyond that, no one is certain," Bhagwat said. There is no end to the development of the inner and outer self and one should work relentlessly for humanity, he said .
