Singapore-based Sembcorp Industries on Thursday said it has secured a 150 MW wind-solar hybrid project through its arm Sembcorp Green Infra Private Ltd. The build-own-operate project is part of a 600 MW bid issued by SECI. Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp), through its wholly-owned renewables subsidiary Sembcorp Green Infra Private Ltd, has received the Letter of Award (LOA) for a 150MW Inter State Transmission System (ISTS) connected wind-solar hybrid power project (the Project) from Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI), according to a company statement. The power generated from this project will be sold to SECI under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) lasting 25 years. This is, however, subject to the execution of the PPA and upon completion of the project, the statement said. The Project is expected to be ready for commercial operation within 24 months from the date of signing the PPA and will be funded through a mixture of internal funds and debt. With this award,
JSW Energy on Friday said its arm JSW Neo Energy has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from NTPC for setting up a 300 MW wind-solar hybrid power project. Following this capacity award, the company's total locked-in generation capacity has risen to 16.7 GW, which includes a total locked-in hybrid capacity of 2.6 GW, a company statement said. This project enhances the company's energy solution offerings and supports its transition towards becoming an energy products and services company, it said. JSW Energy has total locked-in generation capacity of 16.7 GW comprising 7.5 GW operational, 2.3 GW under construction across wind, thermal and hydro and RE pipeline of 6.9 GW. The firm also has 4.2 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity through a battery energy storage system and hydro-pumped storage project. The company aims to reach 20 GW generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity before 2030. JSW Energy aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. In a separate statement
The announcement is the latest major corporate commitment to solar manufacturing since passage of U.S. President Joe Biden's landmark climate change law last year which offers subsidies and tax breaks
The government has sought for public comments on draft National Wind-Solar Hybrid Policy which aims at providing a framework to promote large grid connected wind-solar PV system for optimal and efficient utilisation of transmission infrastructure among others. "Draft National Wind-Solar Hybrid Policy has been prepared and being placed....For comments/suggestions/views of the stakeholders," Ministry of New & Renewable Energy said on its website, adding that the "the comments/suggestions/views on the draft policy may please be sent...By June 30, 2016." The goal of the policy is to reach wind-solar hybrid capacity of 10 GW by 2022, it said. Further, the "policy aims to encourage new technologies, methods and way-outs involving combined operation of wind and solar PV plants," it added. The main objective of the policy is to provide a framework for promotion of large grid connected wind-solar PV system for optimal and efficient utilisation of transmission infrastructure and land, ..
