The Delhi Metro on August 13 registered the highest-ever count of daily passenger journeys at 72.38 lakh, officials said. The urban transporter shared the data in a post on X on Wednesday, saying it has surpassed its previous milestone accomplished in February this year. A total of 72,38,271 passengers travelled on August 13. The count of daily passenger journeys in the Delhi Metro had stood at 71.09 lakh on February 13, 71.07 lakh on August 12, 71.04 lakh on September 4, 2023, and 70.88 lakh on February 12, the data showed. Journey or line utilisation is calculated by the number of corridors passengers use to reach their destinations. The Noida Police nabbed eight criminal suspects within 48 hours after a series of encounters in which seven of them suffered gunshot injuries, according to officials. Among those held is a Delhi-based robber who has over two dozen criminal cases registered against him at various police stations in the National Capital Region and two members of the 'Thak-Thak' gang, the officials said. Noida Police on Thursday stepped up security along its borders with Delhi in view of the proposed farmers' march to the Parliament, officials said. This also led to slow movement of vehicular traffic at various routes, including the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and DND. "In view of the farmers' movement, barriers are being installed at all the borders of Delhi and at Kisan Chowk and other places. Each vehicle is being checked and passed due to which the traffic is moving slowly," a police spokesperson said. The Noida Metro Rail Corporation Monday said the extension of services between Noida and Greater Noida West has been impeded by the lack of "seamless connectivity" between the NMRC's Aqua Line and Delhi Metro's Blue Line. Currently an interchange between the Blue Line and the Aqua Line is at Noida's sector 51 and 52 metro stations. Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) Managing Director Lokesh M inaugurated the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payment facility at the Sector 51 metro station of the Aqua Line on Thursday. "The UPI facility for purchasing tickets from counters is now functional at all stations of the Noida-Greater Noida Metro corridor," an official of the NMRC said. The use of cash, credit and debit cards for purchasing tickets at the counter as well as the NMRC smart card at the customer care centre at all stations will continue as usual, the official added. The Sector 51 metro station, which has six ticket counters and one customer care centre, also has two automatic ticket vending machines (TVM) which have the UPI facility. So far, only these two "prototype" TVMs are available at this station while a proposal to have more such .

The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), which operates the Noida-Greater Noida Metro, on Tuesday said it has invited feedback from public and service providers to improve commuters' travel experience. For this, the NMRC has floated a questionnaire which will be available both online and offline at some key stations for feedback from May 25 to June 24, it said. NMRC said it has recently been assigned the status of nodal authority for mobility services in Noida and the Greater Noida region.
