The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Thursday announced Rs 15 lakh in compensation for the family of 53-year-old man who died after a portion of the Gokulpuri Metro Station on the Pink Line in northeast Delhi collapsed, official statement said. The DMRC announced Rs 2.5 lakh for the grievously injured and Rs 50,000 for those who received minor injuries, it stated. The transporters also suspended two of its officials over the collapse. "Two DMRC officials, a manager and a junior engineer from the civil department, have been immediately suspended," the statement read. The DMRC will be investigating the circumstances leading to this incident to take necessary remedial measures to prevent such unfortunate occurrences in the future, it said.
The Noida Metro Rail Corporation Monday said the extension of services between Noida and Greater Noida West has been impeded by the lack of "seamless connectivity" between the NMRC's Aqua Line and Delhi Metro's Blue Line. Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) Managing Director Lokesh M inaugurated the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payment facility at the Sector 51 metro station of the Aqua Line on Thursday. "The UPI facility for purchasing tickets from counters is now functional at all stations of the Noida-Greater Noida Metro corridor," an official of the NMRC said. The use of cash, credit and debit cards for purchasing tickets at the counter as well as the NMRC smart card at the customer care centre at all stations will continue as usual, the official added. The Sector 51 metro station, which has six ticket counters and one customer care centre, also has two automatic ticket vending machines (TVM) which have the UPI facility. So far, only these two "prototype" TVMs are available at this station while a proposal to have more such .
