Monday will be observed as a public holiday at all government establishments, including offices, schools and colleges, in Noida and Greater Noida, according to an official order. The holiday has been announced on account of the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla at the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22. "In view of the event on January 22, it has been declared a public holiday in Uttar Pradesh under Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881," Gautam Buddh Nagar District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma said in the order. Verma separately told PTI that government offices and other establishments like educational institutions will observe a day off on Monday. "However, private organisations and commercial facilities are open to take a decision on their own," he said. The district magistrate said the sale of liquor will also be prohibited on Monday in compliance with the state government's order made recently. He added that the sale of meat would also be restricted during the day.
All private and government offices in Delhi will remain closed on September 8-10 while banks and commercial establishments, including markets, in the New Delhi district will be shut during these three days. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal approved a proposal in this regard in view of the G20 Summit in the national capital. According to the approved proposal, all schools and colleges will remain closed during these three days. "The file has been sent to Lt Governor VK Saxena for his nod. After the Lt Governor's approval, a public notification will be issued by the Delhi government," a top city government officer told PTI. All commercial and business establishments, including banks and financial institutions, located within the jurisdiction of the New Delhi police district will remain closed on September 8-10. Amid a rise in coronavirus cases, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority on Tuesday ordered that there will be no public celebrations in the national capital during upcoming festivals such Holi and Navaratri. Chief Secretary Vijay Dev directed authorities to ensure strict compliance of the order. "All authorities concerned will ensure that public celebrations and gatherings, congregations during upcoming festivals like Holi, Shab-e-Barat, Navaratri etc shall not be allowed in public places/public grounds/public parks/markets/religious places etc in NCT of Delhi," Dev said in the order. Delhi reported 1,101 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, the highest in over three months, while four people succumbed to the disease, the health department said. It is for the first time since December 24 that the city has recorded more than 1,000 cases in a day.
