Telugu actor Allu Arjun, named as an accused in the case related to the tragic death of a woman during a stampede at the premiere of his latest film Pushpa 2, appeared before the police here on Sunday as part of his bail conditions. Arjun, listed as accused No 11 in the case, was granted regular bail by a city court on January 3. As per the court's directives, the actor is required to appear before the investigating officer every Sunday between 10 am and 1 pm for a period of two months or until the charge sheet is filed, whichever comes earlier. Additionally, the court instructed the Pushpa star not to change his residential address without prior intimation to the court and barred him from leaving the country without prior approval. These conditions will remain in force until the case is resolved. The incident took place on December 4, when a stampede-like situation erupted at Sandhya theatre in Hyderabad as fans gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor during the Pushpa 2 premiere.
"Devara: Part 1", headlined by Jr NTR, has raised over Rs 200 crore in worldwide gross box office collections within two days of its release, the makers said on Sunday. Released on Friday, the pan-India film registered a haul of Rs 172 crore in opening day numbers. "Devara: Part 1" also stars Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, both marking their Telugu cinema debut. It is directed by Koratala Siva. The makers shared the film's box office update on X. "Weapons of DESTRUCTION.unleashing FEAR that no corner can hide from!! '#Devara' #BlockbusterDevara (sic)" the post read, stating the movie had collected over Rs 243 crore since its release. "Devara: Part 1" is produced by Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts and presented by Nandamuri Kalyana Ram. The film is billed as a high-octane action drama set in the forgotten coastal lands of India. It released on Friday in five languages Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada.
Malayalam film "Aattam: The Play" won the award for best feature film and Sooraj R Barjatya was judged best director for the Hindi movie "Uunchai" in the National Film Awards announced on Friday. The best actress award was shared by Nithya Menon, who got it for the Tamil film 'Thiruchitrambalam', and Manasi Parekh for the Gujarati movie "Kutch Express". The award for best actor went to Rishabh Shetty for the Kannada hit "Kantara". Neena Gupta was best supporting actress for 'Uunchai' and Pawan Malhotra best supporting actor for the Haryanvi film "Fouja". Sharmila Tagore and Manoj Bajpayee starrer "Gulmohar" won the award for Hindi film. Bajpayee also got a special mention. A R Rahman won the National Film Award for best music director (background music) for his work in Mani Ratnam's "Ponnyin Selvan-Part 1", which was also named the best Tamil film.
