The Centre has earned over Rs 650 crore from disposal of scrap during the recently-concluded cleanliness campaign, an official statement issued on Saturday said. The special campaigns conducted by the government from 2021-24 have generated a revenue of Rs 2,364 crore through disposal of scrap, it said. Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said that the special campaign 4.0 was India's largest campaign for institutionalising swachhata and reducing pendency in the government offices and has witnessed many best practices and milestones. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's directions, the saturation approach was adopted in special campaign 4.0 for swachhata and reducing pendency. "Special campaign 4.0 generated revenues of more than Rs 650 crore in the October 2-31, 2024 period," said the statement issued by the Personnel Ministry. The coal ministry on Tuesday said a revenue of Rs 28.79 crore has been generated by disposing of scrap as part of a special campaign. An area of approximately 50,59,012 sq ft has been freed so far via scrap disposal, the coal ministry said in a statement. A total of 1,08,469 physical files have been reviewed so far, and 8,088 old files have been weeded out, it said. Besides, 29,993 e-files have been closed online, after reviewing 80,305 e-files, the ministry said. During the second and third week of the implementation phase of the special campaign, the coal ministry has carried out various activities, identified during the preparatory phase of the campaign, the statement added.
The mines ministry on Saturday said 50,000 square feet of space has been freed under a special campaign and a revenue of Rs 1.47 crore has been generated from scrap disposal. The ministry and its subordinate organisations have utilised the Special Campaign 3.0 for disposal of pending matters and emphasized on giving back to nature through creative and innovative ways, the ministry said in a release. "Within the first three weeks of the campaign, the ministry has been ranked amongst the top ten for reviewing old physical files/records. It has achieved 100 per cent in easing of rules, processes, disposal of public grievances, inter-ministerial references and references received from state governments. Besides, 75 per cent of the targeted cleanliness campaigns have already been completed," it said. As many as 11,000 vehicles belonging to the Central Armed Police Forces such as the BSF, CRPF and CISF will be scrapped as part of a Central government policy to dispose of all automobiles older than 15 years, officials said. The Ministry of Home Affairs has also requested all state governments and Union Territory administrations to take necessary steps for scrapping worn-out operational vehicles of state police organisations and to replace them with better technology and fuel-efficient vehicles. The MHA has taken steps to ensure that vehicles that are older than 15 years are scrapped as per the 'Vehicle Scrapping Policy' of the Government of India, officials said on Monday. In this connection, around 11,000 vehicles of the CAPFs have been identified that are older than 15 years and these vehicles shall be scrapped in a phased manner, they said. The Ministry of Railways generated a revenue of more than Rs 66 lakh through disposal of office scrap during the first 13 days of its Special Cleanliness Campaign 3.0, an official statement said on Sunday. As a result of scrap disposal, the ministry also managed to free 3,97,619 sqft of space that can be utilised for other purposes, it said. The Special Cleanliness Campaign 3.0 started on October 1 and will go on till October 31. The Railways' zonal headquarters, divisional offices, production units, Research Design and Standards Organisation, training institutes and more than 7,000 stations are being covered under the campaign, according to the statement. The Railways has set a target of conducting 10,722 cleanliness drives till October 31. The Centre earned Rs 17.49 crore in January from the disposal of scrap as part of its ambitious cleanliness campaign. Besides this, it has freed 10.45 lakh sq feet of space in government premises, a statement issued by the Personnel Ministry on Thursday said. A total of 4,711 cleanliness campaigns were conducted in January and Rs 17,49,91,167 was earned by scrap disposal, it said. The Centre has been continuing its special cleanliness campaign and has decided to come out with a monthly progress report on secretariat reforms As many as 2,52,480 files were reviewed and 1,63,664 files were weeded out, the statement said, citing the second such report. The Centre also disposed 3,94,805 public grievances out of 4,40,671 received by it during the month, according to the statement.
The Centre has earned Rs 254.21 crore from scrap disposal besides easing of 588 rules during the ongoing special cleanliness campaign, Union minister Jitendra Singh said on Tuesday. He said 40 lakh files have been reviewed and 37.19 lakh square feet of space freed so far. Singh, the Minister of State for Personnel, said tremendous enthusiasm is being witnessed in ministries/department for institutionalising Swachhata and minimising pendency.
