Tata Passenger Electric, Shell India partner for EV charging stations

Tata Passenger Electric Mobility on Thursday said it has tied up with Shell India Markets to collaborate in establishing public charging stations across India. The collaboration will leverage Shell's widespread fuel station network and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility's (TPEM) insights from over 1.4 lakh Tata EVs on Indian roads to set up chargers at locations frequently visited by EV owners, the company, a part of Tata Motors, said in a statement. "Through this partnership, we aim to grow the existing charging infrastructure, which is crucial for mainstream adoption of EVs in the country, particularly as the customer base continues to expand," TPEM Chief Strategy Officer Balaje Rajan said. Shell India Markets Director Sanjay Varkey said the company is committed to define the EV charging experience by offering integrated solutions that prioritise convenience, safety, and sustainability.

Shell Energy India to set up renewable energy facility in Gujarat

Shell Energy India on Wednesday said it will invest Rs 3,500 crore in Gujarat to set up a renewable energy facility, charging stations for electric vehicles, and an LNG regasification terminal, which would create nearly 4,300 jobs. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this regard was signed between the Gujarat government and Shell Energy India in Gandhinagar on Wednesday in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, a government release said. The agreement has been signed as part of the upcoming 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit to be held in January next year, said the release. Under this MoU, Shell Energy India will invest Rs 2,200 crore to set up a renewable energy production facility on 1,200 acres in Banaskantha district of north Gujarat. The facility will provide direct and indirect employment to more than 1,000 people, and it is expected to commence commercial production by 2026. Energy giant Shell plans to set up more than 10,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging points in India by 2030. Shell launched its first EV chargers in India, for the four-wheeler and two-wheeler segments in Bengaluru on Thursday. India is the first market for Shell to launch chargers for two-wheelers.
