Shruti Chaudhry
Shruti Chaudhary, daughter of former senior Congress leader Kiran Choudhry; Grand daughter of late former Haryana CM Bansi Lal. Kiran is currently a BJP Rajya Sabha MP. To contest Tosham against cousin Anirudh.
Family history:
Her father Surender Singh died in a helicopter crash in May 2005. Surendra represented prized family seat but his wife took over after his death. She was Congress MLA from Tosham four times. Now Shruti will fight from the seat.
Career:
Shruti Choudhry was also the working president of the Haryana unit of the Congress when the mother-daughter switched to BJP in June. This decision is said to be due to denial of ticket to Shruti Choudhary from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh constituency. 48 year old Shruti is former MP from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh seat from 2009-2014.
Besides Bansi Lal, Haryana politics is also highly influenced by two other Lal familes: Devi Lal and Bhajan Lal.
