The police have registered a case against an unidentified person after a post on social media platform X claimed that "cracks" have started appearing on the Statue of Unity in Gujarat and it can "fall anytime", an official said on Tuesday. The 182-metre tall statue, built at Kevadia in Narmada district as a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first home minister of independent India, is a major tourist attraction. A post written in Hindi on the handle "RaGa4India" at 9.52 am on September 8 stated that the statue "can fall anytime as cracks have started appearing on it". The post also carried an old photograph of the structure, which appeared to be from the time of its construction. The post is unavailable for viewing as the X user has since deleted it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged Amitabh Bachchan to visit the upcoming Rann Utsav and Statue of Unity in Gujarat. Bachchan on Sunday shared a photograph on X from the prime minister's recent visit to the Adi Kailash peak, an abode of Lord Shiva, and Parvati Kund in Jolingkong, Uttarakhand, and lamented that the "tragedy is that I shall never be able to visit it in person". The PM responded to the screen icon with a suggestion to visit Kutch. "My visit to Parvati Kund and Jageshwar Temples was truly mesmerising. A wind turbine taller than the world's tallest Statue of Unity with blades spanning wider than the wingspan of a jumbo jet has been installed at Mundra in Gujarat by Adani New Industries Ltd as part of its renewable energy expansion plans. "Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL) on Thursday announced the installation of country's largest Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) in Mundra, Gujarat," a company statement said. The turbine has been installed by Mundra Windtech Ltd (MWL), a wholly-owned subsidiary incorporated by Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL). This prototype is also the first addition to the portfolio of Adani New Industries Ltd (ANIL) and has laid the foundation for installation of even bigger wind turbine generators, it stated. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday dedicated three attractions, including a Maze Garden, in Gujarat's Ekta Nagar near the 182-meter high Statue of Unity. A government release said the PM also inaugurated a 'Miyawaki' forest and a houseboat. On the first day of his three-day Gujarat visit, the PM along with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reached Ekta Nagar, formerly known as Kevadia, in Narmada district to inaugurate these new attractions, said the release. "The newly added Maze (labyrinth) Garden, spread across three acres with a pathway of 2,100 metres, is the largest maze garden in the country and has been developed in a short span of just eight months. "It has been built in the shape of a 'yantra' that emanates positive energy. Winding through the puzzling roads of this garden will be challenging for the tourists' mind, body and senses," the release said. Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Thursday visited the Statue of Unity at Kevadia in Gujarat's Narmada district. He also visited Arogya Van at the site of the statue, located around 200km from Ahmedabad, along with Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat. The Statue of Unity is an iconic 182-meter tall tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and it was inaugurated in 2018.
