Tata Power on Tuesday said its arm Tata Power Renewables Energy has commissioned a 431 MW DC Solar project in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh. Spanning across 1,635.63 acres, the project features a unique combination of single-axis trackers and bi-facial modules, thereby setting a new benchmark for solar energy generation in India, a Tata Power statement said. This innovative integration has boosted the efficiency of the entire system by over 15 per cent, enabling peak power supply for extended hours, it added. "We are thrilled to announce the successful commissioning of the 431 MW DC solar project in Neemuch," Deepesh Nanda, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd, said. The project contributes to sustainability with an estimated CO2 offset of 7,80,300 tonnes. Leading DTH operator Tata Play (erstwhile known as Tata Sky) has reported widening of its consolidated loss to Rs 353.9 crore, as revenue from operations declined 4.32 per cent to Rs 4,304.62 crore in the financial year ended March 31, according to financial data accessed by business intelligence platform Tofler. In FY23, the company had reported a net loss of Rs 105.25 crore and its revenue from operations stood at Rs 4,499.19 crore. Total expenses of Tata Play, in which Tata Sons now owns 50 per cent share, has increased 1.47 per cent to Rs 4,760.55 crore in FY24. Earlier, it stood at Rs 4,691.25 crore for the financial year ended in March, 2023. Tata Play's total revenue in FY24 also declined 4.47 per cent to Rs 4,327.07 crore. Earlier, the total revenue was at Rs 4,529.97 crore a year ago. Tata Group's global trading and distribution arm, Tata International on Monday announced the appointment of Rajeev Singhal as its Managing Director (MD). Singhal whose appointment to the new position is effective from April 1, succeeds Anand Sen, who superannuated on March 31, 2024, Tata International said in a statement. Prior to this, Singhal was Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Tata International. "We are confident that under his leadership, Tata International will scale to greater heights into its next phase of growth," said Noel N Tata, Chairman of Tata International. Singhal brings over 36 years of experience to his new position, having transitioned from Tata Steel, where he served in various positions including Vice President for marketing and sales for flat products, according to the statement.

Finnish telecom gear maker Nokia on Thursday said it has bagged a broadband gear supply deal from Tata Play Fiber to launch India's first WiFi6-ready broadband network. Nokia said with increasing broadband usage in both residential and enterprise areas, there is significant demand for new, high-capacity broadband connections and to meet this demand, broadband networks need future proof fiber and in-home solutions that can scale in line with evolving end-customer needs. Tata Steel India reported a record operational performance in the last financial year despite a challenging environment, according to the company's CEO & MD T V Narendran. The company produced 19.87 Million Tonnes (MT) of steel in the last fiscal as against 19.06 MT in 2021-22. During the same period, sales were higher at 18.87 MT compared to 18.27 MT in the year-ago period. "Tata Steel India reported a record-breaking operational performance in FY23 despite a challenging environment," Narendran said in a statement on Thursday. "Our strong marketing network and agile business model enabled us to grow across segments," he added. During January-March period, Tata Steel India's production increased to 5.15 MT from 4.90 MT in the year-ago period.
