Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday celebrated Dussehra with Army soldiers at a forward base in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang. Days after Indian and Chinese troops clashed along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh, Adjutant General of the Army Lt Gen C B Ponnappa said on Tuesday that all is well and under control. The Indian Army said on Monday that the face-off on December 9 resulted in "minor injuries to a few personnel from both sides". Asked about the situation after the clash, Lt Gen Ponnappa told PTI on the sidelines of an event, "All is well and (under) control. We all are safe." Indian and Chinese soldiers clashed at a location along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh on December 9, resulting in minor injuries to a few personnel from both sides, military sources said on Monday. They said the Indian troops resolutely confronted the Chinese PLA soldiers. "On December 9, PLA troops contacted the LAC in Tawang Sector which was contested by our troops in a firm and resolute manner. This face-off led to minor injuries to few personnel from both sides," said a source. The sources said both sides immediately disengaged from the area. "As a follow up to the incident, our Commander in the area held a Flag Meeting with his (Chinese) counterpart to discuss the issue in accordance with structured mechanisms to restore peace and tranquillity," the source said. Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang district entered the Guinness Book of World Records on Sunday as over 2,000 helmets were arranged for a formation, creating the phrase 'Jai Hind', to highlight the importance of road safety. A total of 2,350 helmets were used to form the phrase at the Gyalwa Tsangyang Gyatso high-altitude stadium in the border district. Chief Minister Pema Khandu blew the whistle to start the proceedings of the helmet formation. By 8 am, it was complete with Khandu leading a group of participants to create the formation. A Cheetah helicopter of the Indian Army crashed in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh near the boundary with China on Wednesday morning, killing one of the two pilots onboard, a defence spokesperson said. The incident happened around 10 am during a routine sortie in a forward area, defence spokesperson Col AS Walia said. The two pilots on board were rushed to the nearest military hospital, he said. One of the pilots who was critically wounded succumbed to the injuries during treatment, he added. The other pilot is undergoing treatment, Col Walia said. The cause of the crash was not immediately known, he said.
