The Roman Coronagraph, developed to detect planets 100 million times fainter than their stars, has been successfully integrated onto the space telescope
The newly discovered planet, more massive than Jupiter, orbits a K-type star Epsilon Indi A (Eps Ind A), which shares similarities in age with our Sun but is slightly cooler
The Thirty Meter Telescope, featuring a 30-meter primary mirror and advanced adaptive optics, aims to explore fundamental questions about the universe
Japan launched a rocket Thursday carrying an X-ray telescope that will explore the origins of the universe as well as a small lunar lander. The launch of the HII-A rocket from Tanegashima Space Center in southwestern Japan was shown on live video by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, known as JAXA. We have a liftoff, the narrator at JAXA said as the rocket flew up in a burst of smoke then flew over the Pacific. Thirteen minutes after the launch, the rocket put into orbit around Earth a satellite called the X-Ray Imaging and Spectroscopy Mission, or XRISM, which will measure the speed and makeup of what lies between galaxies. That information helps in studying how celestial objects were formed, and hopefully can lead to solving the mystery of how the universe was created, JAXA says. In cooperation with NASA, JAXA will look at the strength of light at different wavelengths, the temperature of things in space and their shapes and brightness. David Alexander, director of the Ric
The unexpected discovery is assisting astronomers in piecing together answers to some of the universe's lingering questions
The James Webb Space Telescope is the world's premier space science observatory
Researchers have confirmed an exoplanet, a planet that orbits another star, using NASA's James Webb Space Telescope for the first time
The exoplanet is about six to 12 times the mass of Jupiter, and these observations could help narrow that down even further
Many astronomers believe there's a good chance that life exists on planets orbiting other stars, and it's possible that's where life will first be found
The giant telescope shall also try to identify supermassive black holes that sit at the centre of almost every large galaxy
The first image from the $10 billion James Webb Space Telescope was released Monday at the White House - a jumble of distant galaxies that went deeper into the cosmos than humanity has ever seen
Sky Eye -- the world's largest radio telescope -- detected narrow-band electromagnetic signals, which may have been signs of alien civilisations
The next-generation and powerful James Webb telescope was hit by space debris called micrometeoroid, leading to a "marginally detectable effect in the data" but has suffered no damage, says NASA
The James Webb Space Telescope is the scientific complement to NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. It will be the most powerful space telescope ever built.
NASA's James Webb Space Telescope team fully deployed its 21-foot, gold-coated primary mirror, successfully completing the final stage of all major spacecraft deployments
NASA technicians have successfully fully deployed the massive sunshield protecting the James Webb Space Telescope, the US space agency announced
NASA's James Webb Space Telescope soared from French Guiana on South America's northeastern coast, riding a European Ariane rocket into the Christmas morning sky
US space agency NASA on Thursday launched its new X-ray Mission to unlock the secrets of extreme cosmic objects.
Thirty years, $8.8 billion, multiple mishaps and budget crises and a threatened congressional cancellation later, the James Webb Space Telescope is finally ready
