Thomas Cook (India) Ltd on Monday reported a 47.7 per cent decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 47.3 crore in the December quarter, impacted by higher expenses. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 90.53 crore in the same period in the last fiscal year, Thomas Cook (India) said in a regulatory filing. Consolidated income from operations during the quarter under review stood at Rs 2,061.01 crore as compared to Rs 1,893.13 crore in the year-ago period, it added. Total expenses in the quarter were higher at Rs 2,008.12 crore as compared to Rs 1,834.02 crore in the same quarter of the last fiscal year. The country's hospitality sector is likely to witness strong tailwinds in the medium to long term, with demand outpacing supply, Thomas Cook India's Executive Chairman Madhavan Menon said. In an interview with PTI, he shared that the company's expansion plans in India are focused on a phygital model, and it is looking at opening around 20 new holiday outlets this fiscal through a combination of owned and franchise locations, and this will include key source markets across Tier 1-3 cities and towns. Travel services provider Thomas Cook (India) on Tuesday said it has collaborated with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to launch its first RuPay prepaid forex card for Indian travellers visiting the UAE. The partnership commences with the UAE as a pilot, which will be followed by a global rollout in a phased manner, Thomas Cook said in a statement. Travellers can use Thomas Cook's RuPay AED (United Arab Emirates Dirham) card extensively across the UAE for transactions and ATM withdrawals. The company claimed that it is the first and the only company to have partnered with NPCI to launch RuPay AED prepaid forex card. Targeting the surge in demand for spiritual tourism, Thomas Cook India and its group firm SOTC Travel have partnered with the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board to offer aerial darshans to Adi Kailash and Om Parvat, the company announced on Wednesday. The five-day spiritual tour has been launched at a price of Rs 90,000 per person -- subsidized by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board. The base camp for the tour will be Pithoragarh, in Uttarakhand. The darshans will start from the second day onwards. On the day-2 of the trip Manokamna temple darshan will be organised and on day-3 onwards there will be Adi Kailash & Om Parvat darshan. Travel and forex services company Thomas Cook (India) on Thursday said it has partnered with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to launch a RuPay prepaid forex card for Indians travelling to the UAE as a pilot. "We are bullish about our forex card business and I am delighted to partner with NPCI for the upcoming launch of our pioneering RuPay prepaid forex card. Omni-channel travel services firm Thomas Cook India on Thursday reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 70.9 crore in the June quarter. The firm had reported a loss of Rs 6.9 crore in the year-ago period. The company's total income from operations grew to Rs 1,931.8 crore during the first quarter of the current fiscal from Rs 989.8 crore in the year-ago period, a regulatory filing to the BSE showed. However, its total expenses also rose to Rs 1,831 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 990 crore in the corresponding period last year. Travel services provider Thomas Cook (India) Ltd on Wednesday announced top-level rejig with Madhavan Menon designated as Executive Chairman while Mahesh Iyer has been elevated as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. The company's board of directors in its meeting on Wednesday approved the re-designation and appointment of Menon as Executive Chairman in the category of Whole-Time Director from his earlier designation as Chairman and Managing Director, Thomas Cook (India) said in a regulatory filing. His appointment will be for a fresh term of five years commencing from July 5, 2023, to July 4, 2028, not liable to retire by rotation, it added. Sterling Holidays Resorts Ltd, a part of Thomas Cook India group, plans to add a new hotel every month in the second half of this year to cash in on the robust growth witnessed in domestic tourism, according to a top group official. The company expects the number of properties to increase to 55 during the course of next year, Thomas Cook (India) Chairman and Managing Director Madhavan Menon told PTI. Markets regulator Sebi has mandated the top 1,000 listed companies in India by market capitalisations to make filings as per the Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR) from 2023-24.
