Lalu Prasad courts controversy with Maha Kumbh 'meaningless' remark

RJD supremo Lalu Prasad on Sunday sparked controversy with his remarks dubbing the Maha Kumbh as "meaningless, as he blamed the Railways for the stampede in New Delhi that claimed 18 lives. At least 12 dead as passengers fleeing fire rumour hit by train in Jalgaon

At least 10 train passengers were killed after stepping down due to a rumour of fire and being run over by another train passing on the adjacent tracks in North Maharashtra's Jalgaon district on Wednesday evening, officials said. While Maharashtra minister Girish Mahajan said 10-12 persons were killed as per the district collector, Union minister Raksha Khadse, who hails from the district, said the death toll could be as high as 40 according to her information. 15 hurt in Florida after train hits fire truck that drove onto tracks

Three firefighters and a dozen passengers were injured in Florida on Saturday when a fire truck with its lights flashing drove around rail crossing arms and into the path of a high-speed passenger train after waiting for another train to pass, according to video of the incident and a person briefed on what happened. Railway properties worth Rs 313 cr damaged due to train accidents in 5 yrs

Railway properties worth Rs 313 crore were damaged due to several train accidents in the past five years, the government informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. "Total cost of damages to railway property such as rolling stock/tracks etc, in consequential train accidents during the past five years (from April 2019 to March 2024) have been assessed as Rs 313 crore," Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said in a written reply. Pakistan suspends train services in southwest after train station bombing

TN train collision: Technical team suspects sabotage after site inspection

A three-member technical team of senior railway officials from the Signal & Telecom, Engineering and Operations department raised serious apprehension of sabotage after inspecting the accident site at Kavaraippettai Railway Station in Tamil Nadu, railway sources said. Kavaraipettai train accident: Restoration work to be completed by Oct 13

Restoration of the railway lines at Kavaraipettai near here where the Mysuru-Darbhanga Bagmati express derailed after ramming into a goods train on Oct 11 night, has been intensified, and the section with four lines will be restored by early morning of October 13, the railway said on Saturday. Terming the collision as an unfortunate incident the railway said of the four lines at Kavaraipettai, the UP line and UP Loop line were expected to be restored tonight while two other lines were expected to be restored by early morning tomorrow. Passengers stranded due to the Darbhanga Bagmati express meeting with an accident at Kavaraipettai near here left for Dharbanga by a special train on Saturday, the southern railway said. The Train No.12578 Mysuru - Darbhanga Bagmati Express met with an accident around 8.30 pm on October 11 and the passengers were transported by buses to Ponneri and then to Chennai Central by two EMU specials, the railway said.
