Bangladesh has suspended all activities of its Assistant High Commission in Agartala after the breach of its premises

The Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Tripura's capital Agartala on Tuesday announced the suspension of all visa and consular services with immediate effect until further notice because of "security reasons", a day after the mission's premises was breached by a group of people protesting against the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das in Dhaka. Amid escalating tensions between the two countries, Dhaka summoned the Indian envoy posted there to protest against the alleged vandalism of its mission in Tripura. Also on Tuesday, police registered a suo motu case and arrested seven people for their alleged involvement in the incident at the Bangladesh mission. Action was also taken against four policemen for dereliction of duty, West Tripura district SP Kiran Kumar K said. Tripura's Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury alleged that a bus on the way to Kolkata from Agartala was attacked in Bangladesh. The incident happened on Bishwa Road in Bangladesh's Brahmanbaria district, he said. "A Sahyamoli Paribahan bus on the way from Tripura to Kolkata was attacked in Bangladesh's Brahmanbaria Bishwa Road. The incident terrified Indian passengers on the bus. The bus was maintaining its lane when a truck intentionally hit it. At this point, an autorickshaw came in front of the bus, and the bus and the auto-rickshaw collided," Chowdhury said in a post on Facebook on Saturday, sharing photos of the bus. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said the state government has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Tata Technologies Ltd on Wednesday to upgrade 19 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the northeastern state. Of the Rs 683.27 crore upgradation plan, Tata Technologies Ltd will pay 86 per cent while the state government will pay the remaining 14 per cent. Besides, the state will separately spend Rs 107 crore to improve infrastructure in the existing ITIs. The upgradation plan will be implemented in five years. "After intense discussion, the state government signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Tata Technologies Ltd today to upgrade the 19 ITIs operating under the Industries and Commerce department. The CBSE will open a sub-regional office in Agartala amid outrage over the dismal performance of state-run schools affiliated to it in board examinations, an official said on Monday. After the BJP came to power in Tripura in 2018, 125 state-run schools were rechristened as Vidyajyoti Schools, and the CBSE's English-medium curriculum was introduced. This year, while 61 per cent of students of these schools cleared the CBSE class 10 examinations, 59 per cent of students were successful in the class 12 exams. The medium of education in these schools was earlier Bengali, and they used to function under the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE). The Tripura cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal to increase 5 per cent DA to state government employees and pensioners with effect from November 1, a minister said. Around 2 lakh employees and pensioners will benefit from the additional 5 per cent DA taking the total dearness allowance to 30 per cent, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury told reporters. The council of ministers approved a proposal to hike DA by 5 per cent for the government employees and pensioners with effect from November 1. The state government will have to spend an additional Rs 500 crore annually for the increased DA," the minister said after the cabinet meeting. The decision was taken despite tight fiscal conditions and the government's spending of Rs 1,700 crore on restoration work after the devastating flood in the northeastern state, he said. Buoyed by the successful implementation of the 'Chief Minister's Rubber Mission' in Tripura, the state government is contemplating extending the programme for another five years, an official said on Sunday. The livelihood generation initiative, launched in 2021-22, is set to be completed by 2025-25. A total of 56,400 families have been brought under the programme, while rubber plantation was carried out across 46,086 hectares of land during the first four years of the mission, he said. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will sanction projects worth Rs 2,800 crore to Tripura to boost the state's connectivity, an official statement said on Monday. The assurance came at a review meeting chaired by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, held in Vanijya Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday. Tripura Labour Minister Tinku Roy on Thursday claimed that 20,000 people have been recruited in various government departments in the last three years. During a discussion on the unemployment issue initiated by Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, the minister said 20,000 people have been recruited in different categories -- regular scale, contractual and fixed pay -- in the government sector in the last three years. The minister said the process has already begun to fill up 20,000 more posts in various government departments.
