OEMs meet ministry officials, flag four key concerns

India Yamaha Motor is recalling around 3 lakh units of its 125 cc scooter models Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid and Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid to rectify faulty brake parts. The Japanese two-wheeler maker said it is recalling scooter units manufactured between January 1, 2022, to January 4, 2024, with immediate effect. Staying committed to the highest quality and safety standards of products, India Yamaha Motor (IYM) has announced a voluntary recall of around 3,00,000 units of 125 cc scooters, the company said in a statement. The recall is aimed at resolving an issue with the brake lever function in select units of the Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid and Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid scooter models (January 2022 onward models), it added. The replacement part is being provided to the concerned customer free of charge, IYM said in the statement. Hero MotoCorp expects demand momentum for two-wheelers to build up further in the domestic market with economic indicators remaining positive, according to a top company executive. The country's largest two-wheeler maker, which recently announced its foray into the European market, is revamping its sales infrastructure and is aiming to have at least 100 premium retail showrooms in the next six months. The country's largest two-wheeler maker, Hero MotoCorp, has set a target to achieve 30 per cent of its sales on digital platforms by 2030. The company, which sold 54 lakh units of motorcycles and scooters in the last fiscal year, is also looking to have 30 per cent women workforce in the organisation by 2030. "We have set an ambitious goal of achieving 30 per cent sales through digital channels by the year 2030," Hero MotoCorp Executive Chairman Pawan Munjal said in the company's annual report for 2022-23. The company, which produced 5.3 million units in 2022-23, has augmented user interface of digital channels, which have emerged as a preferred destination for customers' pre- and post-purchase needs, he told shareholders. Electric mobility startup Motovolt on Friday said it has acquired an undisclosed stake in German electric two-wheeler maker eROCKIT AG for 1 million euros (nearly Rs 9 crore). The company plans to further invest around 10 million euros (nearly Rs 90 crore) in India for industrialisation of the latter's products, Motovolt said in a statement. "The deal with eROCKIT is going to make a major impact on the Indian markets, and transform the two-wheeler segment.
