Varun Beverages extends deadline for acquisition of SBC Beverages to Mar 31

Varun Beverages, PepsiCo's largest franchise bottler, on Tuesday extended the deadline for completion of the acquisition of Ghana-based SBC Beverages for a month to March 31. On November 13, 2024, Varun Beverages Ltd (VBL) had entered into a share purchase agreement for the purchase of 100 per cent shares of SBC Beverages Ghana at USD 15.06 million (Rs 127.1 crore). The company had estimated to complete the transaction by the end of February 2025. However, in regulatory updates, VBL said "consummation of the aforesaid transaction is extended up to March 31, 2025, instead of February 28, 2025". Last November, VBL entered into a share purchase agreement with Tanzania Bottling Company SA and SBC Beverages Ghana for purchase of 100 per cent shares at USD 154.50 million and USD 15.06 million, respectively. Varun Beverages to raise Rs 7,500 cr through QIP to fund expansion plans

Varun Beverages, the leading bottler of beverage major PepsiCo, has plans to raise Rs 7,500 crore from the market through Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) route to fund its growth plans. The board of the company in a meeting held on Wednesday approved the proposal for "raising of funds by way of issuance of equity shares for an aggregate amount not exceeding Rs 7,500 crore" through QIP, according to a regulatory filing by the company. The fund would be raised in "one or more tranches" and would be "subject to receipt of approval of equity shareholders of the company" through postal ballot, it added. The proceeds from this fundraise would be utilised in "making investments in subsidiaries, joint ventures or associates" or to "fund the growth of existing businesses including expanding product portfolio, entering into new territories and making strategic acquisitions". Pepsico India Holdings' consolidated revenue from operations during April-December 2023 was at Rs 5,954.16 crore and profit was Rs 217.26 crore, according to financial data accessed by business intelligence platform Tofler. Varun Beverages starts production of soft drinks at Gorakhpur facility

Varun Beverages, leading bottler of beverage major PepsiCo, on Saturday said it has started commercial production of soft drinks and energy drinks from its production facility at Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The Jaipuria family-promoted firm will also start juices and value-added dairy products from the Gorakhpur facility, Varun Beverages Ltd (VBL) said in a regulatory filing. "Our company has today started commercial production of carbonated soft drinks & energy drinks (juices and value added dairy products to be started) at its production facility at Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh," it said.
