The BJP's in-charge for Rajasthan Arun Singh Tuesday said the decision of the party's parliamentary board about the chief minister's post will be acceptable to all even as newly elected MLAs continued to visit ex-CM Vasundhara Raje at her residence which is seen as a show of strength. Raje, a two-time former chief minister of Rajasthan, is said to be among the frontrunners for the post this time also. The BJP swept the Assembly elections in the state, winning 115 of the 199 seats where polling took place. As Arun Singh reached the residence of BJP state president C P Joshi, reporters asked him about the chief minister's post. Singh replied, "The decision of the parliamentary board will be acceptable to all." Later, Singh and Joshi as well as several MLAs reached the BJP office. Former chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Saturday expressed confidence that the BJP will win the assembly elections in Rajasthan, saying "lotus will bloom" when the votes are counted on December 3. Reacting to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's "undercurrent" remark, Raje told reporters in Jhalawar, "I agree with him. There is indeed an undercurrent but in the favour of BJP. Lotus (BJP's poll symbol) will bloom on December 3." Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday claimed Vasundhara Raje and two other BJP leaders had helped save his government during the 2020 revolt by his party MLAs. He also took potshots at the rebel Congress MLAs saying they should return the money they had taken from the BJP so that they can carry out their duty without any pressure. Gehlot's then deputy Sachin Pilot and 18 other Congress MLAs had revolted against his leadership in July 2020. The month-long crisis ended after the intervention of the party high command. Amid the ongoing political tussle in Rajasthan, former chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Thursday said one should stand like a rock in difficult circumstances. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader made the remark at a religious gathering. Without naming anyone or referring to any context, Raje said one should have faith in God, then no one can harm you. "Stand like a rock in difficult circumstances. Have faith in God and the ability to fight in yourself, then no one can harm you," she added. Through a story of two devotees, Raje also concluded that no matter how much one hatches conspiracy, the true one emerges victorious. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje were tested positive on Tuesday for coronavirus. Gehlot, while informing the public that the number of COVID cases has increased in the past few days, said he too has tested positive for it. "I myself have been infected with mild symptoms of Covid. As per the advice of the doctors, I will continue working from my residence for the next few days. All of you should take care and follow Covid protocols," Gehlot tweeted. Raje in a tweet said she has isolated herself since testing positive. "My report has come positive in the Covid test. I am in complete isolation on the advice of doctors," Raje tweeted. "Those who came in contact with me should get themselves tested and take precautions," she advised. Seventeen new cases of COVID infection were reported in the state on Monday, with 189 people under care.
BJP MP Dushyant Singh on Monday said former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhra Raje shares an emotional connect with people and nobody fears her. His remarks came after state Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra said party leader Rahul Gandhi received a grand welcome from people in Jhalwar on Sunday despite there being fear of Raje. Singh, who is the son of Raje, said the former chief minister brought development to the area and promoted social harmony. Those who failed to bring even two people together in Rajasthan are today claiming to connect India, he said referring to the Bharat Jodo Yatra' led by Gandhi. Raje has continuously won from Jhalwar not because of fear but because of her emotional connect with the people and party workers, Singh said.
