Vinesh Phogat on September 6 joined the Congress party ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections. Referring to the sexual harassment case against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and BJP leader Brij Bhushan Singh, Phogat said it was Congress that stood by the protesting wrestlers during hard times, and that she's proud to have joined a party that supports women.
