Three cases of the HMPV virus were confirmed in India today. Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Delhi have issued guidelines to prepare for rising cases. The Bihar Police today arrested Jan Suraaj party chief Prashant Kishor, who was on an indefinite hunger strike at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Kishor had been protesting to demand the cancellation of the 70th BPSC Preliminary Exam, held on December 13. Today, both Sensex and Nifty 50 tanked over 1.5 per cent each. Among other reasons, reports of a new virus outbreak in China spooked investors, contributing to the downtrend. Standard Glass Lining Technology's IPO opened for subscription today, and the issue was oversubscribed within an hour. The subscription will remain open until January 8. Italy plans a $1.6 billion deal with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to provide secure telecom services for its government, marking what could become Europe’s largest such project.
