In order to serve North East market, Berger Paints is planning to set up two manufacturing plants in Assam. Although, the company is yet to announce the location of these plants, some new reports suggest they could be built at either Tezpur or Guwahati. While Berger Paints’ British Paints division will manufacture putty and distemper at one manufacturing facility, Berger division will put up a water & solvent based paint mixing plant at the other site.
“The company has decided to install two factories in Assam. One of them will be a putty and distemper manufacturing facility to be put up by British Paints division of the company and the other will be a water and solvent based paint mixing plant by Berger division,” said Berger Paints in a BSE filing on August 3, 2015.
British Paints, which was re-named as Berger Paints in 1983 after it was acquired by Berger, was re-introduced in India, as a SBU of Berger Paints India Limited. British Paints, which has a complete range of decorative & general industrial coatings in its portfolio, now operates in the retail, industrial and projects verticals.
