Excerpts:  What is the outlook for the achievement of the MDGs?
The prospects are quite good in south Asia. The goal of halving poverty is going to be met globally because of the progress made by India and China. Of the 59 priority countries that are in danger of not being able to meet the MDGs, only six or seven are in south or east Asia. However, sub-Saharan Africa is still lagging behind and many think Africa is going to miss these goals.  Isn
