Hay-on-Wye, Frankfurt, and now Neemrana? If a small group of writers, publishers and cultural czars can pull it off, India could witness its first international festival of letters this December.
The people working behind the scenes are said to include writer Namita Gokhale, publishers David Davidar, Geeta Dharmarajan and academic Malashree Lal. The conference is still in the blueprint stage, but if all goes well, we can expect to see a few Nobel laureates among the major writers whose names are being discussed as potential invitees.
