Anti-rust act

TALK WRENCH/ Do underbody treatments really work?

Image

BS Motoring Mumbai
I am a regular reader of your Which Car? section in www.bsmotoring.com, based on which I have just purchased the new Maruti Esteem VXi. I live in Mumbai and was wondering if it is a good idea to do an anti-rust treatment for my car.

Could you please guide me as to which treatment I should go for, if at all is it a good idea? Dinitrol and 3M are some of the available choices. Please clarify if getting an anti-rust treatment done will void the manufacturer's warranty on the car.

Faraz Ahmed, via email

Anti-rust treatment is recommended especially if you live in an area that's really close to the sea. Or wherever the monsoons are rather heavy. Yes, for you, it is not a bad idea to go ahead with the treatment " Dinitrol or 3M are good choices to make.

The anti-rust treatment, if done through the dealership from where you bought the car, will go hand in hand with the manufacturer warranty. These treatments also come with a 2-3 year warranty of their own on the underbody " a good investment in the long run.
