You have to really hunt for this place on the India map. A flight to Kolkata, then onwards to Imphal followed by a six-hour drive through hilly terrain (only undertaken in broad daylight, mind you!) will take you to Tamenglong, a tiny little region in Manipur inhabited mostly by the Nagas and the Kukis.

Yet, last month, a stream of visitors was trooping into this remote outpost where concepts like electricity are still pretty alien
