Australia restricted Sri Lanka to 215 runs to win the ICC Cricket
World Cup 2007 after all the confusion over bad lights, Australia
celebrating their victory and the score-board declaring Australia the
World champions.

Having been set a revised target of 269 runs in 36 overs, Lanka was
nearly out of the match with the fall of the wicket of Jayawardane.

Jayasuriya top-scored for Lanka with 63 runs.

Earlier in the day, Australia won the toss, and scored a blistering
281 for the loss of four wickets in their alloted 38 over in the
rain-shortened match.

Wicket-keeper-opener Adam Gilchrist smashed the SL bowling with a
strokeful 149. Hayden and Ponting scored useful 38 and
37,respectively.
