A recent study by Google to understand the impact the internet is having on Chandigarh showed education was most searched, followed by travel, yoga and net banking.
Chandigarh is among the top cities when it comes to internet usage. Google had compiled a list of search trends for the last month.
Speaking to Business Standard, Google India Director (marketing), Sandeep Menon, said, "The study revealed education was big for Chandigarh and with major educational boards declaring their results one after the other, the youngsters were glued to Google, eagerly awaiting and checking their results. Search for board results, educational courses and institutes is leading the way. Another interesting trend that came up was, people of Chandigarh are searching for weekend getaways on the web. From the cool hills of Shimla and Manali to the blue beaches of Goa, the city is looking at all weekend destination options as a haven from the scorching Chandigarh summers."
"Coming to some very unique trends, yoga emerged as a top search trend in Chandigarh. When Yoga emerges as one of the top searched from a land of food and parties it is reason enough to celebrate. According to Google Search trends, the city is increasingly searching for 'Yoga' as a health and fitness option," he added.
"Lastly banking is now no more limited to visiting banks in person as the people of Chandigarh realize the benefits of net banking. Going by the recent Google Search Trends, the city is searching for net banking more and more. People are looking for a convenient yet secure option to conduct their day to day banking activities as they are always on the move."
He added that the core objective behind compiling this study was to understand the impact Internet is having on the-Chandigarh population on their day to day life.
