"Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can," said one of her Facebook status message not too long back. She was like any other confused teenager after her college. What set him apart however was how she transformed after her father's advice. We are talking of Ekta Kapoor, also known as the soap queen of Indian television.

Born on 7 June 1975 Ekta did her schooling from Bombay Scottish School and joined Mithibai College. A little lost about her career choice, her father Jeetendra suggested her to start a Tv production house.

So at the tender age of 19, she began Balaji telefilms which she is now the creative director and joint managing director of.
Slowly she rewrote the rules of TV through her serials which came at a time when TV serials had become an old memory of sorts. Though distinctly different from the old genre of serials, her serials struck a chord with the new viewers.

Her most popular television venture, 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' was one of the longest running serials in the history of Indian Television. Her other famous serials include "Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki", "Kahiin To Hoga", "Kasamh Se" and  "Kasautii Zindagi Kay".

Ekta has since created more than 20 soaps on 10 major Indian networks. Her entrepreneurial skills and achievements won this Kapoor the Ernst & Young (E&Y) Startup Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2001. At the 6th Indian Telly Awards 2006, she bagged the Hall of Fame award.

Not the one to rest on her laurels, the lady also ventured into film production and successfully co-produced movies like Shootout at Lokhandwala and produced movies like the hit Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai and the quirky LSD (Love Sex aur Dhokha).

The daughter of Jeetendra and Shobha Kapoor and sister to Bollywood actor Tusshar Kapoor, Ekta surely is a woman on a mission.
