The terrifying Diablo GT was just sitting there, looking smug and all-important. The 1999 Frankfurt Motor Show had enough stars to overshadow the Lambo, but then you just can't ignore it even in pictures, let alone in flesh-and-blood. The Diablo however was in for a rude shock.
Instead of people salivating around it or bashfully asking for press kits at the Lamborghini press stand, there was a crowd gathered right next door at the Skoda pavilion. The motoring journos had all come to see a fresh-faced, solid looking hatchback that was basking in the glory. Everybody knew how important the small Skoda was for big mama Volkswagen (whose sibling Audi owned that envious Lamborghini anyway!).
