Anshuman Singhania, managing director, J K Tyres, is not your average impulsive technology buyer. Like zillions of others, he too is looking forward to Apple's iPhone launch in India. Name a wacky gadget that you had fun experimenting with. I experimented with a navigator system in my car, which not only guided me through the maze of directions but also helped with information on hotels and restaurants. Now, I look forward to putting a similar navigation system into my car in India as well. |
Which one of your gadgets was a complete waste of money? I weigh any device before buying on parameters like what value I will get out of it. Without compromising on features, I try not to be too impulsive when it comes to technology. |
If you could, what kind of dream gadget would you build? A unified communication platform, so that the office is never far away from me. The idea is to be able to reach my colleagues in any corner of the world, in the best possible manner and promptly. Such a communication platform would mean integrating voice, email, instant messaging, desktop and advanced business applications, voicemail, fax and videoconferencing into a single environment, giving the user a complete but simple communication mode. |
Do gadgets help you unwind? After a hectic day at office or an exhausting business trip, I relax in the lap of quality sound from my surround-sound speakers and watch a movie on my LCD television. My home theatre is actually one of the costliest gadgets I own, and it reproduces cinema-quality video and audio in my home. |
What is your favourite gadget? My BlackBerry, because it fulfills office needs as well as pleasure when I intend to travel light. |
