GCA earns Rs 1.25 cr from ODI tickets

The Goa Cricket Association (GCA) has earned Rs 1.25 crore from the ticket sale of the one day International (ODI) between India and England scheduled at the Nehru Stadium in Margao on April 3.
 
It has registering 100 per cent sale by selling around 12,050 tickets in a day. The tickets were available in four categories that is Rs 400, Rs 750, Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,750.
 
Besides this, the association expects another Rs 2.5 crore from sponsorships and advertisements.
 
The Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) has spent over Rs 3 crore in renovating the stadium. "We have refurbished the entire stadium and put state-of-the-art infrastructure. The dressing rooms has been shifted from the west stand to south. We have also constructed galleries for the BCCI, umpires," said V M Prabhudesai, executive director, SAG.
 
Interestingly, the ODI match has also been insured for Rs 4.25 crore to cover any eventualities including natural calamity and terrorist attack.
 
The public liability policy would also cover accidental injuries to spectators and even the 35-ball boys.
 
Altogether 15 close circuit television cameras have been installed at Rs 30 lakh. Other expenses were done on super soaker (Rs 3.14 lakh), bowling machine (Rs 3.11 lakh) and remote-controlled sight-screens (Rs 9 lakh), two grass cutters (Rs 6.50 lakh) and a 2-ton roller (Rs 2.79 lakh).
