Sudeesh Yezhuvath, COO, Subex Azure, burnt money when he bought a walkie-talkie set, but admits he could never master the device. He did master his mobile phone, and it gives him directions through the maze of streets using the global positioning system.
 
If you could, what kind of dream gadget would you build?
A hard disk drive that has a memory of a whopping 500GB and is the same size as a memory stick today. It will also be able to connect through a USB drive, cutting through the clutter of trailing wires.
 
Name a gadget you don't like.
Video gaming consoles like the Sony PlayStation and Xbox, as I feel they take creativity away.
 
What's the next gadget on your must-buy list?
A digital movie camera, as I gave my last one away recently, secretly hoping to buy myself a new one.
 
How often do you change your gadgets?
Once in 12-18 months, as I tend to give my old gadgets to my peers or family.
 
If you could, whose computer would you hack?
If I could, then probably the Pune Institute of Film archives. This would allow me access to an array of classic titles.
 
Have your gadgets ever came to your rescue?
I was driving in some desolate part of Australia and got lost. Luckily, there was cellular coverage and I used my BlackBerry to browse the Internet and obtain directions.
 
Which one of your gadgets do you think was a complete waste of money?
A walkie-talkie set I bought assuming that I could use it to communicate while out of my house. But I could never get it to work.
 
If you had to survive a day without your favourite gadget, how would you?
My favorite gadget is my mobile phone, so I would have to keep running to the landline. Or maybe I would borrow someone else's mobile phone.
 
Tell us about one funky gadget that you had fun experimenting with.
My digital camera, although I am yet to unravel and master the plethora of settings on it.
 
Can you unwind with the help of your gadgets?
Not really. I am old fashioned in that and thus prefer books instead.
