Nothing for film professionals: Rahul Dev

What do you think of the Budget?

I don't think too highly of it. It fails to do any good for the upper middle class section of society and as usual concentrates only on the rural sector. I agree it is important to give the rural economy a fillip but I think it's very imbalanced.

I can't understand why we should pay interest every time we withdraw Rs 10,000. Film producers withdraw a lot of money and to think that they have to pay interest even on this is ridiculous.

What impact will it have in your field?

There was absolutely nothing for us as professionals in the industry. It's shameful that the most important industry has been ignored in the Budget.

I can't believe the FM didn't even mention the film industry. The government could've easily introduced measures and reduction in custom duties on equipment that the film industry constantly needs to import.

What about personal savings?

I've suffered tremendous losses in the share market. I'm a safe player and invest in policies, PPF and safe schemes.
