The popular comic book series, Amar Chitra Katha, is now available on the two most popular gadgets in the world: the iPhone and iPod.
ACK Media, the publishers of Amar Chitra Katha, has entered into a technological partnership with US-based iRemedi Corp to retell the illustrated classics to the global audience, the company said in a release here today.
The comic series will be launched in a full colour and high-resolution for iPhone and iPods users, and can be downloaded from iTunes stores. iPhone (a high-end music and data phone) and iPod (portable music player) are US-based Apple’s products.
The titles available for iPhone include Krishna, Buddha, The Gita, Ashoka, Tales of Saibaba, Shakuntala, Panchantantra Tales, Mirabai, Karna and Bheeshma among others . Most of these titles are priced at $1.99, it said.
"With this launch of a wide range of Amar Chitra Katha comics we have taken an important step towards bringing the world of Indian story-telling to the iPhone community. In addition to comics we are looking at creating new applications and games for this platform,” ACK Media CEO Samir Patil said.
Amar Chitra Katha, ever since its inception in 1967, has sold more than 90 million copies of its over 400 titles across Indian myth, epics, history and fables.
