After receiving accolades the world over and sweeping the Oscars, Slumdog Millionaire, the feel-good film about a Mumbai tea boy, has now caught the fancy of US President Barack Obama.
Obama wants to watch British director Danny Boyle's production, which is made with a modest budget of $13 million and has so far grossed around $100 million.
The exhilarating rags-to-riches fairy tale set in Mumbai won eight Oscars on Sunday night, including the best picture and best director, with music composer A R Rahman bagging two Academy Awards for his impressive score in the movie.
"I don't know if he (Obama) has seen Slumdog Millionaire. I know he wants to," White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters yesterday.
Gibbs said Obama has watched several movies recently. "I think that a lot of the movies he has seen recently are movies that might also entertain a seven and a 10-year-old girl. Not sure that Slumdog Millionaire would be on that list." The US President has two daughters, seven-year-old Sasha and 10-year-old Malia.
