Call it what you will, but the Narendra Modi-government seems to have a knack for inviting punishment from Twitterati.
Its latest decision to prod internet service providers (ISPs) into blocking more than 800 sites that have or sell pornographic content on the internet has come in for some stinging criticism on Twitter.
While some took a dig at the government’s inability to get past the current logjam in parliament....

And then there was this user, who in one sweet tweet summed up the ban culture that the NDA government has supposedly thrust upon the nation.

Meanwhile,
quoted sources from the ministry as saying, "Certain websites have been reviewed and found to be spreading anti-social activities as hyperlinks from these websites, some of them were pornographic, so we have sent letters to internet service providers to block them. The action has been taken in reference to section 79 of IT Act".
The report also said that information technology secretary RS Sharma said that the ministry "followed court directives," a reference to an ongoing case in the Supreme Court against adult websites.
