Tyres lose air. Check your tyre pressure regularly, at least once a week. When the inflation pressure is low, the tyres' sidewalls get stressed and are likely to get damaged " even if you subsequently correct the pressure.
Under-inflated tyres also have a chance of bursting, they make the vehicle less stable, and sometimes, even get unseated from the rim.
Over-inflation, on the other hand, can cause handling problems, as the contact patch between the tyre and the road surface is reduced. Therefore, ensure you maintain the recommended tyre pressure at all times.
Pressure should be preferably checked when the tyres are cold " or they have been at standstill for at least an hour. When a tyre is warm after use, the pressure is higher than when cold.
So what seems over-inflated after a drive is a normal phenomenon, you need not deflate the tyres then. Also, don't lose the valve cap " it keeps dirt from damaging the valve.
