Senora Beach Resorts Private Limited (SBRL), which operates a beach club and resorts at Sagarnagar near Visakhapatnam, is planning to construct 35 more luxury rooms in the next 18-24 months.

"We currently have only five rooms apart from a conference hall and restaurant. In view of the growing number of tourists, the management has decided to add 35 more rooms," D Raghurama Raju, chief executive officer of Senora Beach Resorts, told Business Standard.

The number of tourists visiting Vizag is increasing considerably. As a result, SBRL is sometimes forced to send its guests to tourism guesthouses as it does not have sufficient accommodation.

Vijayawada-based Laila Group, which took the majority stake in Senora Beach Resorts recently, will invest about Rs 2.5 crore in the proposed expansion plans.

"Besides planning to construct 35 more rooms, we are proposing to construct one big convention centre, an ayurvedic health centre, home theatre and a play centre for children," he said.

The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) has allotted 5 acres of land to private investors to set up this project.

"We have already submitted the plans to the APTDC. Once we get the approvals, we will immediately start works on the new project, which will take about one-and-a-half years to complete," he said.

"Even with meagre facilities, Senora achieved a turnover of Rs 1 crore in the financial year 2005-06, and it aims to achieve a turnover of Rs 2.5 crore this fiscal. We expect our turnover to double following the completion of the expansion project," Raju said.
